Summary: Being a Nobody, for Roxas, is like having to re-learn a language you thought you already knew how to speak. He gets help from some of the other members of the Organization, but the more he learns, the more questions he has, especially when people tell him he needs a heart to find the answers.
A/N: Part of the Awakenings verse, but can be read as a standalone. Starts during Day 17 of 358/2 and continues up until near the end of the game. While modifications were made to this fic after I completed playing Days, Roxas’s first trip to Castle Oblivion was planned out after Re:CoM was released, before the Japanese release of Days. The main modifications to this fic after Days were in regards to Xion as a whole [including a few timeline changes in certain parts of the fic] and Roxas’s second trip to Castle Oblivion. Beta'd by the ever-lovely and forgiving myth.

I wrote this poem after finally getting enough trophies in Re:Coded to unlock the secret ending. I was thinking about how the games might explain some things, and where certain people might be [and my opinions on that], but I was also thinking about one of the conversations in Re:Coded itself, and this came out.

There's a quote from Re:Coded in the notes at the end, but it's not that spoilery. It's more about sentiment than plot, anyway.

Remember the last time I updated this after forgetting about it? And how I said I was going to post fic and never did?

...Yeah, me too. Sorry, guys ._. But I'm posting the backlog now, so that counts for something, right? Even if it's just copy-pasting what I wrote on LJ?

I'm going to be honest. I wrote this to kill the bunny. All I did was add about 2700 words, take out one song, and add another, but now I don't have to go back every time I write an Awakenings-verse scene referencing this fic and spend a couple hours (at least) deciding how Riku or Xehanort or Naminé or Rep or Kairi or other characters' responses should be written. I'm not pimping this to comms since it's not a new fic, but you can go ahead and tell people about the update, and I won't mind.

Anyway, today is probably gonna be pretty mellow. Posted the M version of the big, depressing FST/fic over on Eljay, so today, I think I'm going to write nothing but RikuSora. Then, I can get back to editing the Awakenings stuff I got back from one of my betas.

Two KH Fics: Find and Coriolis Effect

These two fics aren't precisely canon for Awakenings itself, but as I mentioned in a previous entry, they branch off vaguely after Sometimes. So, think of them as canon for Awakenings during the timeline of the games, up to the point where the letter from Mickey arrives, if that makes sense.

Instead of posting that unbeta'd post-BBS ficlet I had on LJ here, I decided to write a sequel, and then send both of them to my beta while batting my eyelashes (hopefully convincingly :P), since she's done with BBS now and can look at more of my writing. As for timelines, they branch off from the Awakenings verse after Sometimes.

It looks kind of like this:
Sometimes ---> timeline split

Timeline 1 (Awakenings verse): immediately after narration ends ---> ending scene of KH2 w/letter ---> Awakenings ---> a few months ---> The Middle (tentative title) ---> about a year and a half? ---> more computer shenanigans (title tbd) ---> about half a year? ---> Temptation ---> a couple years ---> Kairi and Naminé win everything (title tbd) ---> about four years? ---> Present (tentative title? can't remember if I gave it one) ---> about five years ---> Succession (title tbd) ---> about five years ---> plague, OCs/apprentices, etc. (title tbd), total of ten years between Present and plague 'cause that's how I roll

Timeline 2 (more canonish, but with the OTYay, like it should be): about a week or so ---> Find ---> about another week ---> probably during this week, re:coded (have only been spoiled for the secret ending, not coded or re:coded) ---> Coriolis Effect ---> a few minutes ---> ending scene of KH2 w/letter ---> KH3D? KH Drabble: Important Things

Both today and yesterday, I was planning on writing things for Awakenings with Shinji & co. Both today and yesterday, I ended up writing something different. ...Well, I suppose yesterday's writing was still technically Awakenings, but Shinji was unconscious and Asuka and Riku were being tsundereish, so I'm not really sure if that counts.

Anyway. Like I said, I was planning on writing Awakenings stuff, but I got pulled off-track a little and ended up looking up and cross-referencing translations for some of the KH2 novels. Then I started thinking about some of the scenes in the novels that weren't in the game and ended up trying to answer a timeline/continuity[/characterization implications?] question I've had for quite some time. I'm not sure if this drabble completely answered it, but I think it's definitely one of the possibilities of how things could've happened.
